*Possible Spoilers*The flowers in the early part of the series from a literary standpoint could symbolise the innocense that the Elric brothers still posses at this point. They are also often a symbol of new life. As the series continues on you see very few flowers, and there is great losses of innocense as the show progresses, and a fair many deaths as well.
